Upland

City in San Bernardino County, southwest California; population (1990) 63,400. It is situated at the southern foot of the San Gabriel Mountains, to the north of Ontario, and 56 km/35 mi east of Los Angeles, in a citrus growing area. It has a variety of light manufactures and has grown steadily since the 1950s as a residential suburb.

Upland

Small town in Grant County, east-central Indiana; population (1990) 3,300. It is located 18 km/11 mi southeast of Marion, in an agricultural and lumber milling region. It is home to Taylor University (1846).
