utopianism

The wish or attempt to create an ideal social and political system. Attempts at creating utopian communities have often taken the form of communes.

Cooperative communities were suggested by, for example, the French socialist François Fourier and attempted by Robert Owen in Scotland and the USA. The French socialist Claude Saint-Simon also had utopian ideas, as in New Christianity 1825.
