vCard

Emerging standard format through which users can exchange name and address information even if they use different and incompatible contact management programs from different companies (or sometimes programs from the same company, such as Microsoft). Users with handheld computers can beam cards to one another using IrDA links. A vCard can also replace a sig at the end of an e-mail message. If the vCard data is saved as a .vcf file, it can be loaded into a compatible program such as the address book supplied with Microsoft's Internet Explorer 4 Web browser.
