Sharpness

Seaport in Gloucestershire, England, on the Severn estuary, 25 km/16 mi south of Gloucester. A canal 26 km/16 mi long links Gloucester to Sharpness docks. At Sharpness there is one of the world's highest tidal ranges (up to 16 m/52 ft).

An iron railway bridge formerly spanned the estuary here; it collapsed in 1960 and was not rebuilt.
