Graph produced by a sound spectograph showing frequency and intensity changes in the human voice when visually recorded. It enables individual speech characteristics to be determined.

First used as evidence in criminal trials in the USA in 1966, voiceprints were banned in 1974 by the US Court of Appeal as ‘not yet sufficiently accepted by scientists’.
