Wade, (Sarah) Virginia (1945- )

English tennis player who won the Wimbledon singles title in 1977. She also won the US Open in 1968 and the Australian Open in 1972. She held a record number of appearances for the Wightman and Federation Cup teams and her total of eight Grand Slam titles is a post-war British record equalled only by Ann Jones. She won all her Grand Slam doubles titles with Margaret Court.
