In computing, design used as a background ‘desktop pattern’ on graphical user interfaces (GUIs), such as Microsoft Windows or Apple's Mac OS, and visible when no windows are open. Users can choose from a range of different wallpapers, including plain colours, textures, and repeating patterns, or design their own. An increasing number of Internet sites, typically those publicizing films, allow visitors to download wallpapers of posters or production photographs.
