Person who reveals malpractice within an organization to the management of the organization, to the media, or to the appropriate authorities. Whistle-blowers put themselves at considerable personal risk, particularly in terms of their careers. While a whistle-blower often benefits society by exposing illegal or anticompetitive practices, they are often cast as troublemakers by corporations and fellow employees.
