Whistler

Town in Squamish-Lillooet Regional District, southwest British Columbia, Canada; population (1991) 4,500. It is located 87 km/54 mi north-northeast of Vancouver. Whistler is one of Canada's best-known ski resorts, with almost 200 runs (including one with a 2,100 m/6,900 ft vertical drop) on Whistler and Blackcomb mountains. Garibaldi Provincial Park lies to the southeast. Whistler is a year-round resort, also noted for its golf courses and music and arts festivals.
