White

Term denoting a counter-revolutionary, especially a member of the anticommunist forces in the Russian Civil War of 1918 to 1821. In this conflict, the Whites were led by former tsarist officers and supported by troops from foreign countries, but were eventually defeated by the Bolshevik Red Army. They were named after the royalist opponents of the French Revolution, who took the white lily of the French Bourbon monarchy as their emblem.
