producer price index

Measure of average price changes of goods at the wholesale level at three stages of the production process: crude materials, intermediate goods, and finished goods are indexed separately, and each of these is a PPI. The finished goods index, the most cited PPI, and the consumer price index are the two most common measures of inflation and cost of living.
