wind-chill factor

Estimate of how much colder it feels when a wind is blowing. It is arrived at by combining the actual temperature and wind speed and is given as a different temperature.

Wind chill can be calculated in Celsius using the formula: wind chill = 0.045(5. × √V + 10.45 − 0.28V) (T − 33) + 33 where V is in the wind speed in kilometres per hour and T is the temperature in degrees Celsius; and in Fahrenheit: wind chill = 0.0817(3.71 × √V + 5.81 − 0.25V)(T − 91.4) + 91.4 where V is in the wind speed in miles per hour and T is the temperature in degrees Fahrenheit.
