zouk

Caribbean dance music originally created in France by musicians from the Antilles. It draws on Latin American, Haitian, and African rhythms and employs electronic synthesizers as well as ethnic drums. Zouk was developed from 1978 and is popular in Paris and parts of the West Indies.
